Comparing service offers by their outcomes

Compare assessments and service packages by scope, deliverables, prerequisites and optional work.

Who is this for? Customers who want to commission a limited entry into an IT project.

Use cases and context

An introductory package can help to translate an unclear need into a decidable next task. To do this, it must be recognizable what is being examined and what the result is subsequently. The term assessment alone does not describe a uniform scope of services.

Offers are comparable through concrete content: systems considered, workshops, existing documents and the form of the presentation of results. The quality of a decision template also depends on whether assumptions and open points remain recognizable.

The approach in detail

  1. Determine the goal and decision question. Record what information is already available and what is missing.
  2. Check offers for performance limits, results and participation. Consider optional services and follow-up orders separately.
  3. Review the financial statements against the agreed results. Discuss prioritized next steps and open questions together.

Expected outcomes

  • Understandable decision about the right entry
  • Limited scope of investigation
  • Concrete and verifiable description of results
  • Transparent options for further steps

Prepare for an informed decision

Describe the most important open question, the affected systems and the desired time frame. Anonymized overviews are often sufficient to get started.

Later implementation is not automatically part of an assessment. Price scales, taxes and binding delivery dates must also be clearly stated in the actual offer.

Questions and answers

What should an assessment deliver?

The agreed answer to a specific investigation question, with a comprehensible basis, open points and suitable next steps.

Does a follow-up project have to be commissioned afterwards?

A follow-up order is based on the result and a separate decision. The scope results from the respective agreement.
